Back in Business/ Please Don't Stop Coming to my Blog/ Happy Anniversary, Jon!

I am finally caught up enough at work to blog again! A few interesting things have happened since my last post...

As soon as I wrote that last sentence, I was swamped with work again, so I am now continuing my post 30 hours and 45 minutes later. Thank you for your patience with the blog time lapse. It is almost the start of the semester so I've been incredibly busy getting everything organized for incoming students, helping out returning ones, and setting up this huge 2 day exam that all students who have completed one year of study must take. Also, I am putting my department's newsletter together. When I go home, all I do is go to sleep for an hour or 2, wake up and eat some dinner, watch some design shows, and go to sleep. Not too much time for blogging. Soon though, my work days will be much slower and I can blog much more!

Anyway, on to the exciting things. August 17th was mine and Jon's 3 year anniversary. Unfortunately, I was too tired to do much of anything, so after I woke up from a nap, we went to our favorite restaurant,
Riazzi's, and then rented Dazed and Confused and Valley Girl. We are going to a movie character themed party on Saturday and were looking for inspiration. I really wanted to be Elle Woods from Legally Blonde, but earlier that day I am getting my hair done by a hairdresser from Hollywood (he did the girls on Melrose Place!) that my friend/ co-worker Niki knows. Right now, minus the 4 inches of black roots, my hair is very much like Elle's, long and blonde, but after I get it cut and dyed, it will be darker with golden highlights and probably shoulder length. I can't think of a single movie character with that haircut, which is modeled after Sarah Jessica Parker's latest, but the only movie I have seen her in is Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, where she has long dark hair with no highlights. One other thing Jon and I were thinking of being is the yuppie couple in Best in Show because both Jon and I adore Parker Posey, but in that movie she has braces, and I do not. If you've got any good costume ideas, please let me know ASAP!

Back to the anniversary though, we finally got the gorgeous media cabinet from Cost Plus. Isn't it great!? (Photo by Jon)

In other totally exciting news, I've finally been so inspired by my favorite design shows, that I enrolled in two beginning Interior Design classes! I'm really excited, but also nervous since I pretty much hated going to school from age 4-23. However, I'm hoping that since this is something that I'm actually interested in, and I think most of my gen. eds from my bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois will transfer in thus saving me 19 extra hours of work in non-interesting subjects, and the school will help set me up with an internship which makes getting a job in my chosen field much easier, I think I will like this school much better! My fingers are crossed anyway. If I have any awesome projects, I will post pictures of them.

I feel like there was something else that I wanted to blog about, but I can't think of what it was, and it's been so long since my last post, I don't want to make anyone wait any longer. If it's important, you'll read about it in my next post! Thanks for not forgetting about me!
