I Have Been Soooo Busy!

For those of you who know me well, I know you were expecting this to be late! So here it finally is 36 minutes late...(Jon just said "that's pretty good for you!")

As you may or may not remember from my second to last post, (as it was written a very long time ago) I recently went home for a visit. It was great fun. My family and I ate at several of my favorite restaurants. The only one we didn't make it to was Olga's Kitchen, which was very disappointing, so now I am counting down the days until I can go home again. I also got some very cute fall clothes, that I should be able to wear in Arizona in a few more months.

Another thing that I did at home was work on my latest Interior Design project. We were supposed to design a room based on a color scheme taken from the standard color wheel. It took quite along time to collect all of the pieces for the project, and Fay was an enormous help. Fay and I spent several hours getting the pieces just right so that all I would have to do when I got back to AZ would be nicely cut and glue the elements to mat board since the project was due the night after I got back. So all day at work of the day the project was due, I nervously tried to plan things out in my head. My class starts at 7:00 and I get home at about 5:30, so I had approximately one hour to cut and glue everything. As you can imagine that was all much easier said than done. Thankfully, Jon was a very big help and glued while I cut. I was in panic mode and started to burn up, but somehow the two of us miraculously finished the project. I made it to class with seconds to spare. However, something wasn't right. My obnoxious teacher (who had been "sick" last week) had been replaced by someone else. Apparently my regular teacher was sick again, and the project was not due anymore. WTF? Regular teacher forced us all to get e-mail so that she could notify us of things like this. When she was sick last week and cancelled class, no one knew until we drove all the way there and found a sign on the door. This week, I'm sure everyone would have been ecstatic to find that the project wasn't due (especially the handful of people who walked in late with glue all over themselves!), but she couldn't even give us that courtesy until once again we had to go all the way to school. Gas is expensive, teacher! We all have e-mail for a reason. So I'm just a bit furious that not only did I waste a lot of my vacation working on this stupid project, but also now two of my expensive classes have been wasted! The first time class was cancelled, and the second time class lasted a bit over an hour. Normally the class is 3 hours long. The only good thing to come out of this is that now you can all see my project. The color scheme I chose is complementary (two colors directly across from each other on the wheel) and the room I designed is a dining room.

Other projects I have been busy with include this costume I made for a semi co-worker's 2 year old daughter. I just finished it. I have to say as far as scary, scary, scary clowns go, this one is pretty cute.

While we're on the subject of work... I kind of got a promotion last week. I didn't involve a raise but involves a lot more work. And, now instead of being inside a cubicle where no one can see what I am doing, I have been moved to a gigantic desk directly outside of my boss's office. I'm so lucky? Fortunately my boss is great and we get a long very well. She is training me for her job so that I can help out when she is away. She also said she was lonely in her office and wanted me for company. I do like that part. I am also loving my gigantic desk, I just wish it came with a gigantic raise. However, I think that the very best part of it is that I can now work on work projects without being interupted by too many incredibly annoying people. So overall, I am happy.

I'll keep you posted.

No Olga's? I'm going home for Thanksgiving and New Years (long stroy) and I'll be in LA for Xmas, so I'm going to get Olga's all 3 times! You should take a trip to LA and get some Olga food since it's closer than Illinois :)
