I'm Back... Sort of/ The Office
In case you haven't noticed, you haven't seen much from me lately. Basically it's because I'm in a funk, and you come here to laugh, which I like providing for you, and lately I haven't felt that anything laugh-worthy has happened to me. (That's not actually true, I just haven't felt like writing them out.) I also no longer have a digital camera, and I think postings are usually better with pictures, so Fay and Randy, if you're looking for a Christmas present for me, hint hint!
My job is incredibly stressful right now, and I don't want to go into detail here, so I'll tell you one of the good things that has happened there. Next Wednesday I get to move into my very own office! I am very excited about this because right now I sit outside my boss's office door, which aside from the obvious problems this could present (if I was a bad employee, I mean), it makes my position look more receptionisty and it is difficult to have confidential work related conversations, when I am out in the middle of the hall. Now I get to move to an office with a window! and a door. If I had a camera (hint, hint) I could take a picture of my glorious new office and post it here.
So last week in the middle of a slight crisis where I was on the phone with my boss and had 5 people standing at my desk, some related to the crisis, others not, a man came in to tell me that he was ready to move me to my new office. My desk, floor around my desk, and new office floor are covered, literally covered with files and paperwork because of the moves that are happening all over the main office and I thought I had until next Wednesday to pack and move (plus if you know me, you know that that's actually fairly normal). I started to freak out and may have yelled at a few people. It's kind of a blur. Anyway, it turned out that he was the phone guy who was coming to transfer just my phone number to the new office. Or so I thought.
Apparently, to transfer the phone number, you need to move the entire phone from its current location to the new location, and shut down the jack at its current location. In laymen's terms, the guy stole my phone to put in my new office and left me with nothing! Fortunately my new office door is about 10 feet from my current desk. Unfortunately, the new office is very long and skinny, with the phone at the other end from the door. So, if I think I hear my phone ring, I have to jump up, run to the door, look in, see if the light is blinking, and if it is, I hurdle over the files on the floor and attempt to grab the receiver before my voice mail picks up, or the person calling gives up. Yea! There's something funny for you! I guess I'm grateful for the exercise, but it's definitely cutting into my high heel wearing lifestyle!
Hopefully my new office with a view will inspire me to blog more often. Er, once I get home from a hard day of working hard I mean... heh heh. Hey, I really like your shirt... Is it new?

Hi! I was so excited to see another entry to your blog. I talked with Fay and Randy last night and told them that a digital camera is the perfect Christmas gift for a daughter. Hope that's what you find in your stocking. Keep those blogging entries coming!
