Food, Yes! Pictures, No... Boo!!! Booze, YAY!!!

I just wanted to let you know that I have been cooking a few of the items that I had promised I would cook. I even dutifully documented the finished products, but I am having a horrible time getting the pictures to work with my blog, as you can see in the post below. I'm not sure how to fix this, either. I managed to get the pictures from my camera onto my computer, but I've tried about 5 different ways to get them onto my post and it will not work, or it will look like it worked and then when I go to my blog, it's a broken link. Fortunately, I have a few IT friends, who I am hoping will be able to help me out. One of them, Gary, is so nice that he actually gave me the laptop I have at my house because he had about 500 and was no longer using the ancient model that he gave to me. I could care less how old it is because it was free and it does everything I need it to. Thanks, Gary! Now, can you make the pictures work? :-)

In other depressing news, I did my taxes last week. Somehow I owe the government over $2000. Apparently I was not having anywhere close to the right amount taken out of my paychecks. I am really not happy about this, because I'd been living a high faluting rock and roll lifestyle, and now I will have to go back to eating spaghetti and only buying a new pair of shoes every other month. Boo! To drown my sorrows and for one last weekend of fun, I made delicious margaritas, chips (well I bought those) and salsa. I used real lime juice instead of the scary neon green stuff I normally buy for the margaritas. Now that I have used real lime, I will not be going back to the store bought stuff anytime soon. They were super easy to make... 2 parts tequila, 1 part triple sec, and 2 parts lime juice. Combine by shaking or stirring and pour over ice. Yum! That was Saturday.

On Sunday I bought a bottle of the best flavored vodka ever. It is new Absolut pear. I had seen an article about it online and it sounded great. A few nights later I was at a bar that had some, so I tasted it and fell in love. I had been searching for it ever since, and finally found some yesterday. I am not really sure what to mix with it, so for now I have been slowly sipping it. It smells and tastes just like a real pear, but then it kind of burns when you swallow it, as vodka often does. I still highly recommend it, and I am normally not a fan of flavored vodkas, unless they have slyly been mixed into my cocktail without my knowledge and then I rave about how much I love said cocktail and then feel stupid when I find out about a year later that it contains orange flavored vodka, which I have claimed to be my absolut (heh) least favorite flavor of all. I'm looking at you Bamboo Club's most delicious concoction of all time, BC Berries.

I promise that I will write again soon!

Isn't it just amazing how much of our hard earned money must go to the IRS? Margaritas seem like the logical place to go for solace at tax time. But, really, Stephanie, I don't see how you can possibly make do with only one pair of shoes every other month! It's just too primitive.
